HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT THE KOREAN 10 STEP ROUTINE?

HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT THE KOREAN 10 STEP ROUTINE?

I’m sure by now in some way you must have heard about South Korean skincare AKA #kbeauty ? What is the Korean 10 step ritual all about?

WHAT IS THE KOREAN TEN STEP ROUTINE ALL ABOUT?

Let me break it down for you, it’s a series of steps that make up a tailored skincare routine, targeted to treat our own unique & individual concerns. The principle about deeply cleansing, targeting specific  issues (dryness, acne, brightening etc).  This routine can consist of light layer building that leaves the skin feeling hydrated & nourished.

South Korean products are known for their innovative methods of production (think steaming & fermentation),  potent & unusual ingredients that are always evolving due to high consumer demand to produce effective skincare without breaking the bank.

EXAMPLE #KBEAUTY SKINCARE ROUTINE

Below is an example ten step routine I created when discovering the 10-Step principle. My skin concerns are breakouts, oil, pigmentation & pores! Since this time my product choices refined and been modified on the below, but you can check out my more recent posts here

WHAT’S SO SPECIAL ABOUT THESE PRODUCTS?

Aside from the cute & quirky packaging don’t let that distract you! Korean skincare carries a power from within combining antioxidants, AHA & BHA ingredients like Birch Wood, Royal Honey & Propolis, the unusual Snail Enzyme, Bee Venom & Hydraulic Acid to even Green Tea! The list could go on & on! In essence there are many innovative combinations on offer at a very reasonable price!

WHY BOTHER WITH ALL THESE STEPS, DO WE REALLY NEED THEM?

It’s not always necessary & everyone’s skin takes products differently right, we have to follow what feels best for our skin & despite there being many steps above, not all of them are required on a daily basis. The key principle is to deep cleanse (remove the day) & rejuvenating, hydrate & protecting your skin everyday AM/PM!

I also observe an emphasis on ‘gentle massaging techniques’ to cleanse and hydrate the skin? Avoiding too much pressure, pulling (something I now notice people doing all the time!)

It shocks me now I’m aware of Korean skincare & compare certain products especially toners against many of our UK  options. Most of them contain alcohol! This is so bad & majorly drying! It’s quite rare to find this in a South Korean toners as they are more hydrating then stripping & act as a treatment step sometimes multi-tasking!

What I like about this type of step-routine is that each product prepares the skin for the next, for example BHA which could be found in a k-beauty toner has the ability to help the skin absorb moisture so there’s already a better result from the next hydration product to follow.

I truly believe this is how the skin can heal itself in a relatively short time with Korean beauty products! Remember, not all the steps are for every day. Treatments like exfoliating & masks are only applied 2 times per week, my morning routine takes about 10 mins which I feel is acceptable, right?

MY THOUGHTS ON THE KOREAN TEN STEP?

Since following this type of skincare step routine I don’t think there can be any other way for me now! My acne flare ups have significantly improved! The overall texture of my skin looks so much smoother and it happens relatively quickly too, pores less visible, friends & family are commenting! I thank you Seoul for sharing some pretty awesome products and taking lead of the skincare market & sharing it with the rest of the world! ♥♥♥
