Hey Folks ♥ I hope you’ve all been keeping well? Are you Into Exercise in general? If so, What’s your preferred method? Cardio Queen? High Intensity Fanatic? Perhaps hate it all? Or, a bit of a Yogi Master, or aspiring like me 😉
There’s no denying physical exercise is great for us all! We need it and it could be from anything like regular walking, to a full on gym routine! The benefits are a plenty, not just for the body, but for the mind and mental clarity too. Do you recall that feeling of completing a workout, or long walk etc. The feeling of buzzing energy literally flowing through your mind and body? Pretty powerful & energising right?
I like to keep things balanced, am no Jane Fonda in my spare time by any means! Yet, as an observation when falling of the wagon into periods of sedentary living! I can totally feel a difference! So, right now I’m getting back on track! My personal exercise routine comprises of a 2/3 days a week I’ll do a high intensity short work out of around 20 mins or so. The alternating 2/3 (or sometimes the same day, depending on how I feel). I like to incorporate Yoga ♥
There are so many different types out there! From Power (my favourite). To Hatha, slower and great for beginners, Vinyassa, pretty fast and fluid – the list goes on! What attracts me to Yoga is the balance of the body, mind and soul! Yet, I know a lot of people who find this concept a bit off-putting!? Just to clarify, yoga doesn’t need to be a deep & spiritual experience. I think some like to take it to this level, as it can be incorporated into a lifestyle, which is wonderful. However it need not be and can be practised as a form of exercise alone that in turn will leave you feeling amazing and rid of any negative feelings acquired through the day!
The benefits of yoga > It all starts with the breath! The simple act of breathing air deeply into your belly slowly, then releasing it out is quite a powerful thing! Try it right now & let your belly fill with air as you take a deep inhale. then release it? Let your stomach draw in, Do you feel instantly calmer? I know I do, especially after a long day sat in front of a desk and computer! Yoga has to be one of my favourites! After each session I feel totally calm, stronger and well stretched! Or if practised in the morning I feel that no matter what the day brings, I can handle it! It in a way gives a feeling of perspective! The physical benefits of yoga range from: Increased flexibility, Increased muscle strength and tone, Improved respiration, energy & vitality. Can also help maintain balanced metabolism, Cardio and circulatory health too. Whilst helping to improve athletic performance. Yoga really deeply stretches every muscle in your body which can help prevent injury if doing lots of cardio or high intensity workouts. In terms of mental health benefits yoga sharpens the attention span & concentration, calms and centres the nervous system – All good things 🙂
With time comes increased flexibility. No one will jump on that mat first time and be able to bend like a pro! If so, it kind of misses the point! It’s like a journey and with time we get better and better. The real benefits are in the journey, not the destination! Give yoga a go, there’s so much free content online I’m certain there’s something out there for everyone, I’m sure you will feel awesome for it too ♥
